Blogging about TWITTER.. =D

TWITTER!! The moment I saw and heard of this Twitter, I have been thinking What is Twitter,is it easy to use etc. But after I decided to sign up for new account at Twitter my 1st impression about Twitter is that it was not useful to me as it is different than Facebook as user tweet more about their personal daily life. Not  only I can use Twitter either on my home laptop or school computers, even my hand phone I can get to use the Twitter Application as I can read and tweet anytime anywhere whenever I feel to tweet and read if I feel to do it..lol!! The reason of signing up for Twitter is that when getting this application install in my handphone and this application also need in my CDS module that is Effective internet research.

The benefit using Twitter in EIR lesson was very useful as it will help student to share their knowledge and their views about what the have learn throughout the EIR lesson. With that the students will be able to communicate more with other students and they can give opinions with their topics that the student discuss. Not only student can tweet in EIR class, the teacher also be able to post some related topics and the student can be to read the tweets and do some research given by the teachers. With this students will save time as the students no need to have to trouble themselves to ask teacher face to face during EIR class.

For me I prefer Blog is convenient than Twitter. The reason is that comparing Blog than Twitter was that in Blog we tend to express more and it also reflect what we have doing throughout our EIR lesson and be able to produce a long entry entry or even short post too. As in Twitter, the limits of post are limited as Twitter only allowed limited numbers of words and it was also same like SMS and the followers of the user Twitter will be able to read what the user had tweet. Blogs and Twitter as for me it still share same purpose and function but only had some different between them. With this both applications, we can able to express ourselves and share our opinions through this Twitter and Blog too.

My Dream Holiday... ps: Hope my Dream came true..lol!!

When I had a chance to blog about Dream Holiday, I will get excited as I like to go on Holiday. Therefore, my dream Holiday will be in Europe continents and that is Amsterdam the capital of the Dutch or Netherlands.

Amsterdam became a metropolis since the second half of the sixteenth century. Amsterdam now hosts more than 750,000 residents from 175 different countries. 37% of the population belong to an ethnic minority. There is an open and tolerant atmosphere in the city. It is a very useful country and green environment too. As I view the official Amsterdam website, I noticed that there were many bicycles around this capital and it obviously shown in the picture above too.  I think bicycle is the public transportation for the Amsterdam people beside the train, buses etc. As for this it is a good destination for me as I like to cycle and this is a good opportunity for me to cycle around this wonderful city. Amsterdam city  also known as The Bicycling Capitol of Europe.


To know more my dream destination, I visited the City official website iamsterdam (http://www.iamsterdam.com) to find out more information about Amsterdam on people, transportation, places of interest etc as well as the history too to add to my knowledge to the city.

The layout of this website is very useful and accessible. I really love the website layout as its easier for user to find useful information through this website. Like example,  when I select the  Living link category, it will beb bringing me to the page where more information about Amsterdam I can see such as the housing, education, work and the transportation. With this very useful information and the contents I find when I'm in Amsterdam, I will not facing any difficulties coping at there.

The most interesting part of the iamsterdam city website that there is also virtual map at the website. With the help of the virtual map, it can help the tourist like me to visit around the city without losing the way. The virtual map also useful and clear with the landmark stated below the map so it can help us more convenient.

In my own view and my opinion is that the tourism website is more convenient and accessible easilly as it has nice design layout. Therefore, the Iamsterdam website obviously meet the criteria and was very effective to that show me the right categories to the respective pages when I select the tabs of the respective category that the website had.

Dream Holiday via Virtual World on Second Life


When I search of the my dream destination that is Amsterdam, I was glad to know that there are such destination in the virtual world that created by the user of second life. I've selected the region named Region: Amsterdam.  Ok lets have a sneak peak of the Region of Amsterdam that I'm in virtual world visiting my dream holiday with the images I display below.

With this virtual life holiday experience, overall its was very fun and interesting experience to tour around my dream destination via the virtual world. Even though my dream Holiday going to Amsterdam will not come true in my real life, visiting the capital in virtual world also is enough for me to experience how Amsterdam look like although it is only in virtual world rather than virtual life. Practical 7 Blog Reflection on Citizen Journalism.

Ello Peeps.. Its me again to blog again... Well now I going to reflect what I be doing in last EIR lesson that is Practical 7 about Citizen Journalism. Based my own opinion, I think that Citizen Journalism is very interesting and useful too. One of the good main reason is that Citizen Journalism make people like us share  our opinions n views on certain news. Not only that, Citizen  Journalism also allow people to share news from anywhere anytime too. This may be a good news for the media especially the newspaper and news reporter as they will be not be the first be on the scene or heard the news and With the helping of Citizen Journalism I assure that news  that not been appearing in the media and news can be shared by them via online.

Ask for students, the benefits being Citizen Journalism is that thew will be able to interact with the community such as allowing them to view other articles that posted by the community. Other benefits is the student also can shared their own articles and be ready for comment and critics from the community With this view, student should respect the comment and critics in a good way and respect other community comment and views so the student learn that not being biased.

In the class, our teacher ask us to form a group to perform a task and evaluate STOMP website. To perform this task, we evaluate STOMP by Purpose, Coverage, Authority, Accuracy and Currency. I found this activity it very interesting and challenging too as we can share our own ideas and comments between our group members. And this can make our teamwork bonding as we make decision among group. During this group activity, I've found that different group had different opinions and there was not new to me and with this it will help to listen the other group views and opinions.

I will evaluate on STOMP by Authority. As we can see Stomp websites is created by the newspaper Strait Times. Whatever the news publish at the STOMP, it still edited by Strait Times . And it can be consider the news is valid.

Creating my Own STOMP about Early Childhood Trauma on people's Behaviour

First of all,  any news posted for my STOMP must have a references for the Citizen Journalist. As this will help them to support their own news effort. With the help of the references, the other user who had view my STOMP can find out where the useful and interesting information came from. With this opportunity, it will be easier and effective for the user. Beside of this references, my STOMP should  have discussion forum so that the community can comment and give some views on my discussion forum. With this forum it will be a debate between the community about my topic about early childhood Trauma. Lastly, my STOMP must be user friendly and mobile so that people can have easier and convenient access to STOMP at anywhere and anytime. OK peeps thats all for my post. Take care!! Good Night.

Searching via Database. Is it effective??

Hola everybody, its me again. So long I've never done a blog post since I'm very busy and my tight schedule. So this is my delay entry for the Practical 6 Searching via Database for my EIR. Ok let me explain, more information what I have learn on this related research that I learn during the EIR lesson.

Firstly, I had been searching the TP Database via Digital Library Portal via http://spark.tp.edu.sg/. When I had enter this Library portal, first at my thought is it was exactly no much different portal like other library portal like example the NLB (National Library Board). But after I had enter this portal, I saw a various numbers of Research Database such as EBSCOHost, Factiva, NewsLink etc. So my thoughts will if this portal was wrong.

To search my related topics that is Early Childhood Trauma via this database research, I decided to search via EBSCOhost. When I search the related topics in the search field, the search result outcome show many relevant journals. In my opinion, I find it was very useful. The search database result give me an interesting information about my given topics. This will help me more better for my research more effective.

Beside EBSCOhost, I also search via other research database like Factiva. As for Factiva when I want to search my given topic, the search result was not relevant as its show different topics that I want to search for. As a result I fount EBSCOhost is better research  database than Factiva. As Factiva will not be helping my research more useful and effective.

FACTIVA

Beside searching the TP Digital Library portal, there was another resources for the research portal and it is searching the Invisible web that is TP’s E-books database ITPRO via http://library.books24x7.com .  After I search my given topics in this database resource, I found that the search results are not relevant. It is because this related database doesn't have any relevant books or articles that containing my given topics. Other reason should be this database resources is not up to date. So my opinion that searching the Invisible web like E-books database ITPRO is not effective and useful compare than the digital library portal research database such as EBSCOhost.
